Ron’s music is a unique blend of jazz and classical elements. He has played with many great musicians, including Jaki Byard, Larry Young, Jimmy Guiffre, Andrew Hill, Joe Diorio and Herb Ellis. In 1978, he performed in the U.S. debut of George Russell’s Concerto for Two Guitars. He has recorded on many CDs including, “Songs of Alan Broadbent”, a solo guitar recording, featuring the music of the grammy award winning pianist and “Soul Eyes,”a jazz guitar duo with Riner Scivally. Also an author, his book entitled, “Concepts for the Classical and Jazz Guitar”, co-written with Jimmy Wyble and published by Mel Bay, illustrates advanced techniques for guitarists. Ron’s composition, “Esther and Frank” and four of his arrangements and solos of jazz standards appear in three other Mel Bay books.

After receiving a Masters Degree in Composition from the New England Conservatory, he moved to Paris and remained there for two years, collaborating with many European musicians.

Since moving to Los Angeles in 1981, Ron stays active performing in jazz clubs, giving clinics and workshops, and currently teaches at Occidental and Pasadena City College. He plays Hofner and Rodger Borys Guitars and uses Thomastik-Infeld Strings.
